What Does the following chest X-ray Indicate?

I received the results today from a chest X-ray The response was: Heart size and pulmonary vasculature are within normal limits. Evaluation of the lungs show small linear opacity left lung base. No consolidations are present. There are no definite effusions or pneumothoraces. The osseous structures are normal. The visualized soft tissues are radiographically normal. Impression: Ill-defined opacity left lung base probably representing atelectasis. Small infiltrate not excluded. I just had lipotriposy on the left kidney about 3-4 weeks ago, my urologist thought the lipotriposy may have had something to do with this because of the trauma of that procedure. Had the chest X-ray done because I had not had one in years and I m a former smoker.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi atelactasis means a small portion of your lung has collapsed and is not getting aerated. I will not be able to tell you if it was lithotripsy related because you do not have a x ray to show you did not have this prior to lithotripsy. Also smoking will not cause atelactasis. It is advisable for you to wait 4-6 weeks and get a repeat x ray. In the meantime if you develop any symptoms you can see the doctor immediately. I hope this helps. Take care :)
